Time for the Inspirational Card Sketch reveal & Kids DT

Hey there all-

I am sitting here with my neck killing me. I am assuming it is because I slept wrong and the fan was blowing on it. Oh well enough on that. Today is wet and rainy day. We are supposed to have a baseball game (Jack that is) tonight but with the storms that went through I am sure it will be cancelled, again! The water just sits on the home base and pitchers area.

Let's get to this weeks sponsor is Squiggle Stamps:

6 sheets of 6x6 Crate Paper
Green Eyelets
Select buttons
Assortments of ribbon/trimmings

Now let's show you the sketch:

Isn't this a fun sketch from the very talented Dawn Baty!!!!! I love the fact that she challenges my brain each and every week! Maybe that isn't all that hard. LOL

Okay now to post you all my card for the challenge:
Supplies:

Paper: Stampin Up & DCWV Spring pack
Ink: Mementos Tuxedo Black & Dew Drops
Markers: Sharpies
Stamps: Sweet and Sassy
Embellishment: Paper Wishes
Ribbon: Big Lots

It seems my style in cards is different from many others. I don't know if that is a good thing or not. I like to do fun style cards! I have really been into stamps that are fun and kinda of goofy! I am sorry if this is boring you!!!! I just love make something that will make people laugh and happy!!!!! I also love this ball ribbon and have tried for weeks to use it! Finally I could!

Many of you wonderful ladies have asked about an update on my parents. I appreciate all your concern. Brief explaination for those that have just found my blog or a new visitor. First let me say I appreciate you all!!!!! I hope that you will stay a follower or become a frequent visitor.

My parents had the misfortune of their house burning down on Mother's Day!!!! They lost everything except the clothes on their backs! They have been living with us since then so we are a little crowded but it has been good! Well the house is going to be demolished on Thursday so that the new one can be built. It is going to be a long time before the house is ready but we will keep plugging along! Luckily, we have not been in the hospital either! Just after the house my mom was in for 6 days and then in the emergency room once! It has been a trying 2 months. The only good that will come out of all this is that the new house will be good for my Mom's breathing issues and will be state of the art!!!!!! Everything they owned will be replaced except of course the memories! They wil have more money now then they ever had but what a price to pay!! I will update you all soon with more information soon! I thank you for your concern and prayers for them!

Thanks again for checking me out! My oldest is still wanting to start a kids design team! Do you have a child that loves to make cards? Have them check out Taylor's blog!!!! It is in my left sidebar! Actually my friends, will you visit her blog since she put her Father's day card on there and leave her some love? Please!!!! Hee hee I do have a way of begging! LOL

Hugs all- please come back again soon!

My ICS card

Tuesday was the new sketch reveal at Inspirational card sketches and I hope you play along with us! As usual Dawn had a great sketch! I was not sure how I was going to do this sketch since it has the window and embellies on it! Boy was I confused!!!!! To put it lightly!! So with that let me show you the sketch!
Here is what I came up with! I will tell you it was very difficult looking sketch when I saw it!

Supplies:

Paper: StampinUp!

Rhinestones: Joann's & Crystal stickers

Star brads: Paper wishes

Stamps: Stampendous

Ribbon: Best Value

Punch: StampinUp!

Embossing powder: Ranger

Pencils: Prismacolor

I decided that for obvious reasons that the card had to red, white and blue but still follow the sketch! So that meant that the ribbon needed to be blue! As you can all tell, if you have seen my stuff I am into big ribbon. I feel it helps make my cards!

I usually look at the sketch, in the past saying I can't do this! Now I look at it and say what stamp do I want to use!!!!! I general now pick the stamp and make the sketch work around it. I can't believe I said that! But, I have this bad habit of buying stamps!!!!! I want to tell you all to check out Clear Dollar Stamps! I have had such great service and just love love love their stamps! That is where most of my animal stamps has come from! I also have to say the customer service is outstanding. They have a deal when you order $50 you get a free stamp set! Well I just assumed that if I did not add it to my order it would come automatic. Well I got my stamps and it was not there so I sent an email to them and explained to them what happened and they sent me my stamps!!!! I was excited. I figured they did not need to give them to me since I forgot them but they said they also forgot them too! And that I was a deserving customer! Isn't cool!? I think so.

But when I do sketches now I first pick out the stamp I want to use then go from there. This also helps in picking the perfect paper! For example if it is flowers then it is feminine paper, animals would be fun paper etc. It just confuses me to do it other ways! Lol
Well I will quit babbling. I promise my next post I will update you all on my parents! Thanks for all of you who have been asking! I appreciate it! Will update it soon!

ICS & Kids DT by Taylor

Hey there all-

It is Tuesday again so you know it is the reveal of the new sketch from Dawn! I will first show you the blog candy you have a chance to win!

Okay now for Dawn's sketch:

As you can see my card is to the right! Hee hee

Supplies:

Paper:
Bazzill, Stampin Up!

Ink:
Mementos
Stamps:
Stampendous
Ribbon: Best Value (Joann's bin)
Brads: ??
Embossing powder:
Ranger
Rhinestones: Crystal Effects
Prisma Pencils blended with gamsol
Sakura glitter pen

Taylor and I found these cute little stamps, boy Uncle Sam and girl Liberty. I just had to use them! I decided to put rhinestones in the middle of the fireworks that are embossed. I also tried using my glitter pen for little Sam but you can't really see it. It is kinda like it absorbed into the paper! Oh well it is still cute if I do say so myself! LOL If you have a chance to try these sketches please do! I am sure you will love them! Come join us for the fun of it but also for the chance to win the blog candy!

My oldest, Taylor (you all know that I am sure : ) wants to start a kids design team! She loves to paper craft and make cards! I usually ask her for help when it comes to my dt cards! She has a great eye. We are still working out details on this idea but she wants to give it a go! She would love to have at least 4 people. Check out her blog at http://www.fromtheheartoftaylorfink.blogspot.com/. She has been practicing with the copic markers and getting really good at them! I have not even played with them yet! Do you think your child would love to do this please let Taylor or I know. Taylor is also thinking she will design the sketches so there is an idea given! I think it will be fun!

Well I am going to say see you later all!!

ICS sketch #20

Hey there all-
Can you believe it is time for this week sketch! I am amazed at the way Dawn can come up with so many! I see we have some that will be challenging for me!!! Yikes!
Let me get you right to the sketch!

Awesome isn't it!?

My take:
Supplies:

Paper: DCWV, Bazzil, Karen Foster Recycled &
Stampin Up!

Ink: Stampin Up

Stamp: Penny Black (Hedgehog) & Clear Dollar

Ribbon: Offray

Butterfly: ?

Corner rounder: Creative Memories
Stickles

Prismacolor blended with Gamsol

This was a fun stamp to color! I have never tried a detailed type card until I bought the stamp that I used on mom's birthday card (previous post)! I just never thought I could get it blended my colors that well! I have been getting better with my prisma pencils. I have copic pens I have bought but have not practiced with them yet!! I was waiting to get Mementos black ink since that seemed like the preferred ink that won't smear. I did not want to frustrate myself with coloring since the ink will run!! That would drive me insane! So soon I hope to be trying them!
Let's see with life, my parents ran into a house problem which will postpone things! It is amazing what they are saying it will cost to rebuild the old house just as it was! It is more than anyone expected! So the pretty house that was planned will be worse! What can you do! They are still with us here which has been actually pretty good! We all are not ready to kill each other at least at this point! LOL It has been fun!
Mom's work is being stupid! She is just going day by day at this point! That is the only thing you can do now!
Well I won't bore you with more babbling! I appreciate those of you who follow me and those that leave such sweet comments! I have some awesome cyber friends! Hugs to you all!

OTF Blog Hop!

I have a card to show you all! I made this for my mom's birthday (6/6) using the sketch at Sketch Saturday!

Let me show it to you now:

Supplies:

Paper: Prima Marketing, DCWV, SU & Karen Foster (recycled)

Ribbon: Best Value

Birthday Wishes: Joann's Essentials

Rhinestones: Darice

Ink: Stampin Up!

Cutter: Oval, Creative Memories

Prisma blended with gamsol & Sakura Glitter Pen
As I have said before, I love using sketches!!!!!! I just love having a card pattern laid out for me. With this already done I can pick the stamp I want to use and the technique! I am very into my Prismacolor pencils and Gamsol! I also have bought 72 Copic markers but haven't used them yet! I want to just sit and work with them one day. Now Taylor, who is 14, has tried her skill with them especially since her Creative Painting class at school! She is still learning to blend them but I think it has been a nice job! I told Antonia she is to young to use them!!!!! Please make sure you check out Inspirational card sketches!

I don't know if you are interested in the details of the card but I will list them for those of you that don't like to think! Hee Hee! I know I don't! This is a 6x6 card that I made since my parents are living with us (since fire) I can hand it to her and not pay extra postage! LOL

Card base: 6x6
Second square (pink): 5 3/4x 5 3/4
Printed sheet: 5 1/2 x 4
Oval template- cut 2 of same size then offset one

Basically I followed the sketch exact (which is what I like to do) with the only exception being the offset oval. To make the stamped oval stand out more on the white paper I inked the edges with brown!

Well thanks for visiting! Next in line for the Blog Hop is wonderful talented Library Bunny (Sara) at http://www.thumpster73@blogspot.com . Have fun!
